Getting to Big Sky is easy . . .
                        and it's a stunning drive!!

Scenic Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport (BZN), is located just outside of Bozeman, Montana. BZN is the only airport serving as a year-round gateway for two Yellowstone National Park entrances. BZN also serves the recreation areas of Big Sky Resort, Moonlight Basin, Lone Mountain Ranch, The Yellowstone Club, and the Bridger Bowl Ski Area as well as the business centers of Bozeman, Belgrade and Livingston and Montana State University.  Delta, United Airlines, Alaska Airlines, SkyWest, Allegiant Air, and Frontier provide non-stop service to Seattle/Tacoma, Portland, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Salt Lake City, Phoenix-Mesa, Las Vegas, Denver, Minneapolis/St. Paul, Chicago, Houston, NY LaGuardia, Newark, and Atlanta.

Bozeman to Big Sky is a 43 mile drive following the
Gallatin River
through some of the most scenic country in North America. The Gallatin Canyon has views of mountains, river, and wildlife that will make you catch your breath. Then, as you turn west from Highway 191 towards Big Sky, you are impressed even more. In front of you is Lone Mountain, looking like "America's Matterhorn" against the Montana sky.
Big Sky began as a dream of the newscaster Chet Huntley carved out of wilderness in 1973 with an Arnold Palmer Golf Course in the Meadow Village and  ski lifts in the Mountain Village. Signature Lone Mountain is the scenic anchor. The Resort has grown to a warm and hospitable mountain community of about 4,000 "most of the time" residents. This year-round recreation paradise is just north of Yellowstone National Park and surrounded by National Forest and the Lee Metcalf Wilderness.  Big Sky is free of most of the faux swiss-chalet look or the cowboy-look that colors many other western resorts.  It's an honest place!

Big Sky Resort and Moonlight Basin are now Better Together.  On October 1, 2013, Cross Harbor and Boyne Resorts formalized the purchase of Moonlight Basin to create the biggest ski resort in the United States with over 30 lifts, 4,350 vertical feet and 5,750 total acres of uncrowded skiing.

Looking for a challenge? Take Big Sky's tram and ski from the very summit of Lone Mountain itself (a jaw-dropping 11,166-feet).  The new Big Sky Ski and Summer Resort is huge; here´s a link to maps that break it down into digestible portions including some very cool interactive maps of mountain and base areas.
