Bozeman to Big Sky is a 43 mile drive following the Gallatin Riverthrough some of the most scenic country in North America. The Gallatin Canyon has views of mountains, river, and wildlife that will make you catch your breath. Then, as you turn west from Highway 191 towards Big Sky, you are impressed even more. In front of you is Lone Mountain, looking like "America's Matterhorn" against the Montana sky.
Big Sky began as a ski & summer resort carved out of wilderness in 1973 with an Arnold Palmer Golf Coursein the Meadow Village and ski lifts in the Mountain Village. Signature Lone Mountain is the scenic anchor. The Resort has grown to a warm and hospitable mountain community of nearly 4,000 "most of the time" residents. This year-round recreation paradise is just north of Yellowstone National Parkand surrounded by National Forestand the Lee Metcalf Wilderness. Big Sky is free of most of the faux swiss-chalet look or the cowboy-look that colors many other western resorts. It's an honest place!

Skip those other links and go here for the coolest ski map ever NEW Interactive Trail Maps where you can design a different trail map for every member of your ski-group based on skills and preferences.
Just 1.7 miles from famed Big Sky Resort is the newest ski resort in North America. Moonlight Basinis now cooperating with Big Sky Resort to offer one of the few "joint tickets" available in North America. The new Lone Peak Pass offers skiers access to both resorts offering over 5500 acres and 24 lifts -- the biggest skiing in America! Moonlight Basin is also finalizing a magnificent Jack Niklaus Signature golf course.
